When trying to create a successful website, there are three simple steps that you should take. By following these steps, you will not only make the building of your site a lot easier but you will also create a website that gets noticed by search engines and has many return visitors, and with return visitors comes the potential to earn money from your website.

When you look at the most successful websites you will notice that they all have a couple of things in common, they are organised and not over complicated. If you try and over complicate your site by adding all the latest bells and whistles or you have a layout that is un-organized then you will greatly increase your chance of failure. Remember, keep it simple and organised and you will succeed.

1 – Planning

It is very important to plan what your website will be about and how you would like to present it. For example if you have an interest in golf and want to create a website on this subject then it is highly likely that you will be competing against thousands, if not millions of other golf sites. You may be happy with this, but to give yourself a greater chance of being noticed, try narrowing down the focus of your site to something more specific, like improving your golf swing or the history of the golf club. Remember, the more tightly focused the theme of your website is, the more chance you have of getting it noticed and making it a success. If you want to cover a broader subject then consider break the subject down into several different themes and creating a website for each of those themes.

2 – Content

Filling your site with content can be a daunting task, and whilst it may be a good idea to write the content for the main pages yourself, the job can be greatly simplified by using articles from ezine directories and private label sites like infogoround.com (See http://www.spaceboyfox.com/article-link/infogoround.php for more information). The more relevant content you add to your site the better, plus it is also a good idea to add more articles and information to your site on a regular basis, say every week or once a month. By keeping the content fresh and interesting, you greatly improve the chances of your visitors returning to your site and wanting to link to you.

3 – Promotion

Once you have successfully created your website, filled it with content and have a plan to regularly add more information to it, you just need to get your site noticed and create a stream of visitors. There are many ways to get your site, you can submit your site to the main search engines and wait for them to visit your site and add it to there index. You can get other relevant websites to link to you, so in our golf example above, you would find other golf related sites and ask the webmaster to add a link to your site and in return you will add a link on your site to theirs. You can write articles relating to the subject of your site and submit these to article directories, remembering to add a link to your website in the article content and authors biography box. You can post to forums relating to the subject of your website and add a link to your site in your signature. You can add a link to your website in the signature of all the emails you send out. You can even use word of mouth and just tell people about how great your site is. By doing some research on the internet, you will also find many other ways to promote you website.

By following the three simple steps above, you will greatly increase the chance of making your website successful.

One other thing, by adding in Google AdSense elements to your pages your web site will generate cash for you. The more content rich and highly focused your site, the better the response you’ll get to the adverts you carry. And that means more money paid to you by Google.

In a bold move, online advertising and search giant Google.com announced it will start selling online video ads this week to distribute across its partner network.

Curiously, Google will reportedly not display the ads on their main site, Google.com.

The company states that it’s their effort to deliver richer content demanded by advertisers and consumers that drives this latest advertising venture.

On the surface, it makes sense.

Video represents the hottest trend online right now and advertising revenue made Google the darling of Wall Street and restored investor confidence in viability of the Internet.

But once you get beyond the euphoria of another Google success in the making, some serious questions need addressing before we all mortgage the house and pour the cash into Google stock.

As I just stated, when Google starts displaying video ads, they will not play on their main portal site.

The video ads will only display on partner sites most likely displaying AdSense.

AdSense is the commission driven advertising distribution system the propelled Google to financial stardom.

When a partner site displays the AdSense code, Google pays a percentage of ad revenue to the site owner displaying the ads.

Now it appears, those sites will also, at Google’s option, display video ads.

Actual details of how the program will work and how advertisers include their videos in the system or display them remains sparse.

A search of the Google.com site, the AdSense.Google.com advertising section, and even the http://www.google.com/press/ site yielded very few clues to the actual inner-workings of the new video ads.

But, over the next few weeks, I’m sure the details of the program will become apparent to all.

Despite the excitement over the video ad buzz, I have two very real concerns about how video advertisement will play out with this new system.

First, the fact that Google.com will reportedly not display the video ads on their own site really bothers me.

Why would they do this?

If the advertising method means such a boon to advertisers, why wouldn’t they exploit it on their own site?

The answer: despite all their testing on Video.Google.com, they don’t know how video ads will play out.

Rather than experiment on their main “cash cow” site at Google.com, they want to work out the kinks on other people’s sites.

If you ask me, that’s not a very nice way to treat the people who made you multi-billionaires.

Second, considering the fact that most advertisers who choose to use video will simply play regurgitated TV commercials, video ads on Google will debut with mixed results.

Why?

Because standard TV commercials don’t wok for producing measurable results that online advertisers can track.

A whole new world of direct-response video advertising must emerge for advertisers to successfully exploit this new opportunity.

The real winners at the start of this expansion in video advertising will be the businesses with products that sell best when people can see a demonstration or before and after pictures.

These require the least skill in direct-response copywriting and create the most impact when viewed by potential customers.

Increase Sales By Flying Under Your Prospects’ “Radar Defenses”

- by Jim Edwards

(c) Jim Edwards – All Rights reserved http://www.thenetreporter.com =====================================

How do you persuade someone to do what you want them to do?

A whole world of marketing exists around us trying to do that every minute of the day. Do you even notice it anymore or, like your prospects, have you subconsciously set up a system of “radar defenses” against the daily bombardment of marketing messages?

Take a minute and count up the advertising methods which fight for your attention (and money) every day. Just the basic list includes:

· Yellow page ads

· Newspaper and magazine ads

· Postcards, catalogs, and direct mail circulars in your “snail mail” box

· Radio pitches interrupting the flow of your favorite songs

· TV ads – about 20 minutes worth per hour now

· Hundreds of storefronts, “mega” malls, and strip malls

· Highway billboards by the thousands

· Circulars hung on your doorknob

· Illegal signs on stop signs and telephone poles

· Legitimate email messages

· Spam email or UCE (unsolicited commercial email)

Just these 11 sources can overwhelm your brain with marketing messages. Like trapped rats, people develop defenses against this never-ending onslaught. They throw up a wall or a “radar defense” that goes into action the minute they smell a “pitch” or a sales job. Don’t blame them. We all do it!

So how can you get around this psychological wall against the constant sales and marketing messages? Well, the answer does NOT lie in hitting people with more frequent and obnoxious advertising or sly, sneaky tactics. You might get them to trust you for a minute, but it will backfire in the long run.

You must do two things instead:

1. First, you must establish credibility for yourself and your business as an expert.

2. Second, you must reduce their fears about doing business with you.

Doing these two things will get you past their defenses and allow you the opportunity to persuade them to buy your product.

So how do you accomplish these two “simple” things? What will win someone’s attention, raise your credibility, and lower their fear factor all at the same time? The one-word answer really applies to most everyone.

Trust!

If a seller can get behind your defenses with information which makes you trust them, then that credibility will carry over into a sale much of the time.

How can you get this credibility?

Well, take this next fact as online marketing “gospel,” for many people have proven its effectiveness.

Fact: Publishing and promoting with free articles gives you one of the most powerful opportunities available to tip the buyer’s credibility scale in your favor.

How can we prove this works? Quite easily actually. Take a break from reading this and go check out a newspaper or magazine for a minute.

Which do you trust more, the ads or the articles? Most people will choose the articles hands down. Why? Because the articles don’t try to “sell” you anything. Instead, they hand out useful information for educational or other practical purposes.

Most of us grew up in a culture which says we can believe and “trust” what appears in the standard “news” or “information” format. In other words, if it appears in print, then we can believe and trust the author.

So go ahead! Use this lifetime of conditioning to your advantage in selling your products and services!

Very few things will create an atmosphere of trust and confidence in people as reading one of your articles on a subject that greatly interests them. It shows you know your business. It also demonstrates you will do more than just try to sell them something.

Publishing articles literally lets you fly under their advertising “radar defenses.”

So remember these points when deciding whether or not to use articles to promote your business:

1. Few things create as much trust and confidence in the minds of potential customers as reading an article you wrote on a subject which specifically and intensely interests them.

2. Articles establish credibility quickly because, right or wrong, we’ve all been trained to trust the “news.”

3. An article, or series of articles, will differentiate you from the competition, who bombard people with nothing but sales messages.

4. Providing content-rich, non-sales-oriented articles will also help build and solidify your relationship with existing customers so they give you repeat business.

Many people who start out in Internet Marketing, and some who have been doing it for years, overlook the importance of keywords. I mean, what possible relevance can a few simple words have to your business and your income?

They have more importance than you can possibly imagine. Select the right keywords and you get a flood of targeted traffic, which can translate into a massive increase in income. Select the wrong keywords and your site will disappear into the mire of the Internet and never be seen again.

Keywords are picked up by the search engines and used to help rank your site and determine the relevance of your site for potential visitors. With the rapid increase of spam sites in the search engines, keywords are playing a more important role than ever.

Selecting keywords helps you target your potential market. If your site was about stopping smoking then selecting the right keywords can bring you the right traffic. If you selected smoking as your keyword then you would get traffic about people who wanted to keep smoking and buy smoking paraphernalia. Quite obviously, these are not the visitors you want coming to a stop smoking site.

Your keywords also help you narrow down your target market. Stop smoking has almost sixty million entries on Google. Getting to the top of this may prove extremely difficult, expensive and time consuming.

However, if you were a hypnotherapist in Dallas and used the keywords “stop smoking Dallas” then the number of entries shrinks to just over four million. It’s much easier to get listed on the front page of Google with so many less entries.

So you can see that selecting the right keyword can help you define your market better and enjoy prominence in it.

If you are running a Google Adsense site then the right keywords are even more important as they can make the difference between a click worth a few cents and a click worth a few dollars.

The problem most people face is finding the right keywords. A lot of marketers will just make them up off the top of their head, guessing what they would search for if they were looking. Now this method is all well and good for something some basic research into the competition, but where it relates to your income and positioning in the search engines it just doesn’t cut the mustard.

You have to be precise in your keyword selection and find those that are going to bring you the maximum return on investment. If you can find a high paying keyword with little competition and a lot of traffic then you have struck gold and can rake in the cash.

There are a lot of tools you can use to find your keywords. Google adwords has a keyword finder tool, as does Overture. Both are pretty generic and not specifically targeted towards Internet Marketers. Nichebot is a popular tool for many, but is pretty basic in its functionality. There are many other tools on the market written specifically for Internet Marketers.

You will agree that keywords are vital for Internet Marketing, and now you will understand why and perhaps have a better idea on how to find targeted keywords for your niche.

Strategy plays an important part in the success or failure of any affiliate marketing program. Many affiliates fail to devise a strategy that will help them succeed. There are several strategic techniques that can greatly improve your chances of success if followed diligently and consistently.

Strategy One: Choose a product that is needed & easy to sell. Amazon.com’s affiliate program is a huge success because books and CDs are easier to sell online then say, a car or boat. Downloadable products, like software and ebooks, are also potentially good sellers.

Strategy Two: Dedicate your website to the topic of your affiliate sponsor. If your affiliate sponsor sells paint, then start a website about art, painting, or some related subject. However, make sure it’s one you’re passionate about. If you don’t care about the subject, then you won’t be motivated to support it and it will show.

Strategy Three: Write articles on the appropriate subject, and submit them to article resource sites. Article resource sites and groups, like Yahoo’s Article Announce, allow the posting of articles. The articles are free to use elsewhere, but the author’s information must also be included. If you place a link to your website in the article resource box, you’ll have a link on any site that posts the article.

Strategy Four: Dedicate a certain amount of time each day to affiliate marketing efforts. The key word in affiliate marketing is “marketing”. The more time you spend marketing, the more residual commission you earn.

Strategy Five: Consider advertising in popular ezines or email newsletters. An ad in a targeted ezine or email newsletter can generate a huge amount of interest. Most online users subscribe to at least two ezines or email newsletters dedicated to a topic they’re passionate about. Try to reach as many people as possible.

Strategy Six: Start an email newsletter or ezine. Granted, this may be more work than you want to do, but it could be a winning strategy. If you’re in charge of all the editorial content, you can dedicate more space to promoting your sponsors. You’ll also be able to make recommendations on products your readers would find of interest.

Following a strategy is simply smart planning. If you follow these tips consistently, you will see an increase in your residual income. Never stop thinking of ways to make your situation better and more lucrative. Who knows? You may even develop a winning strategy that’s better than those listed above.

You should be able to find several indispensable facts about Affiliate Marketing in the following paragraphs. If there’s at least one fact you didn’t know before, imagine the difference it might make.

Important Tool #1: Your Own Website

The most important and indispensable tool in Affiliate Marketing is your own website. The first step in any successful affiliate marketing business is building a good, credible and professional looking website. Your website is the jump off point of all your marketing efforts. Thus, you must first build a user-friendly website, which will appeal to your prospects and encourage them to click on the links to the products and service you are promoting and make a purchase. Therefore, you must first concentrate your efforts in building a website that will cater to what your prospects need.

The most important thing you should consider is that almost all web users go online to look for information, not necessarily to go and buy something. Above all else, make your website full of original, relevant and useful content. People will love articles that are appealing and helpful. Keep in mind that, in the internet, content is still king and good quality content will not only build your credibility, it can also help you achieve a higher search engine ranking. By posting relevant and useful articles, you establish yourself as a credible expert in the field, making you a more trustworthy endorser of the product or service you promote. Establishing a good reputation is a good step in building up a loyal consumer base.

Now that we’ve covered those aspects of Affiliate Marketer, let’s turn to some of the other factors that need to be considered.

Important Tool #2: Incentives

Competition is extremely tight in the internet world. You must always be one-step ahead of your rivals to ensure that you capture a significant share of your target market. Therefore, you must use every possible means to encourage people not only to visit your site but also to click and proceed to the websites of the products and services you are promoting. Building an opt-in email list is one of the best ways to gather prospects. Offer a newsletter or an e-zine. Better yet, offer incentives to your prospects to encourage them to subscribe to your newsletters. You can present free softwares, access to exclusive services and other freebies that will be helpful to your prospects.

Important Tool #3: Link Popularity

The importance of driving highly targeted traffic to your website cannot be emphasized enough. The all-important web traffic is at the top of the list of the most important entities in the internet world. Attracting people to your site should be the first step you should carry out. Do everything to achieve a high search engine ranking. Link Popularity is one of the factors that search engines use to determine search engine rankings. Therefore, to enhance your link popularity, you must launch an aggressive reciprocal link campaign.

Now you can be a confident expert on Affiliate Marketing. OK, maybe not an expert. But you should have something to bring to the table next time you join a discussion on Affiliate Marketing.

Google adsense is proving to be probably the number one method of making money on the internet. Visit nearly any website today and you will see an array of Google Adsense ads being displayed. But if youre interested in displaying Google Adsense ads on your website how can you be sure that you are making the most return from your website visitors.

Let me tell you my five top tips to increase your Google Adsense income.

Tip one.

Use articles on your website that are of interest to your targeted market. Original articles written by yourself are best, however if you are not keen on writing why not look at obtaining some Private Label Rights articles. Most important issue here being to modify the articles extensively to make them original to you and not risk duplicated content issues.

Tip two.

Keep your web page layout simple and don’t include links to other products or services, which could distract your visitors from clicking on your Google Adsense ads. Remember this strategy is to increase your Adsense revenue, if you want to promote an affiliate product design a webpage with just your product links on and remove any adsense ads.

Tip three.

Design your Adsense ads to blend in with the background colour of your webpage and also position them in the most profitable positions available. You can get a clear idea of this layout by clicking on my website link below.

Tip four.

Keep track of your visitors and the income they produce to your website, you can do this by creating a channel in the Google Adsense backoffice. Again remember, that if your website is not producing a decent income then you need to look at different subject matters, subjects of interest that people want to read more about and are willing to visit your website in order to read more.

Tip five.

Traffic generation is the real key to success and without visitors to your website you wont make any money. This fifth tip is a complete subject on its own and I will be producing further articles on this subject which you will be able to read by visiting my website below.

I will be adding regular articles on all these subjects and more over the next few days and months so it realy will be worth a visit to see what tips and ideas you can use to increase your Google Adsense income.

What is an affiliate program? An arrangement between a company and a website owner or individual who would like to promote that company’s products. The person promoting the projects is the affiliate, and the company with the products is the merchant. The merchant(company) pays a percentage of any sales resulting from any click through (via banner or text link) to their web site from an affiliate partner’s website. Many webmasters and internet gurus are doing very well with only a handful of affiliate programs. Once you find a good one, you kind of seem to get stuck on it until you are positive you are making every penny possible. Before spending a lot of time and money marketing an affiliate program, always check it out first.

Once you start making sales, you will want to keep good records of the transactions. Personally, I use an Excel spreadsheet for the daily sales, and then input everything into Quickbooks once a month. It is also a good idea to keep all emails you get regarding sales. Many programs give you an option of receiving an email everytime a sale is made. This is a great way of staying on top of your sales and also provides you with a record of transactions.

You are probably wondering how to get started with Affiliate Marketing. There are tons of places to learn more about becoming an Affiliate. I have written a great program to help people get started in the business. You can find it and my affiliate program directory at my website below. You will need an arsenal of tools to be a successful affiliate, and so I recommend reading a few different ebooks or guides on the subject and comparing the tools. The small investment you make in these educational materials will well worth the money.

Many people try Affiliate Marketing for a few days, and then when they do not have a sale, they give up. It does take work, so don’t expect to get rich overnight. However, if you put some time and effort into the business, you can reap great rewards.
