As an affiliate manager I tend to have this conversation more than I like to admit: Affiliate – “Your competitor just offered me $10 per conversion for my traffic, you only pay $7. I think I am going to have to send my traffic to them.” Me – “$10 eh? What is their conversion rate?” Affiliate – “Um….I am not sure. But they want to pay me $10!” Me – “And how much will you make if their conversion is half of ours?” Affiliate – “Oh, yeah, I get it now.” Savvy affiliates know that conversion is just as important as payout when they are evaluating affiliate programs. I could offer you $1,000 per conversion, but if my conversion is 0%, you’re not going to make a dime :) Conversion is key - I have to remind that to affiliates all the time.
